― WHAT IS IT
What is Venereology?
Venereology is the branch of medicine concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and related conditions. It is a core component of dermatology training — Dr. More holds a DDVL (Diploma in Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy), reflecting specialist training in both fields.
At Dr. More’s clinic, venereological consultations are conducted with complete confidentiality, zero judgment, and the same clinical rigour applied to every other medical condition. You deserve accurate diagnosis and effective treatment — provided in an environment where you feel completely safe and respected.
Strictly Confidential · WHO-Compliant · Lab-Confirmed
All STI consultations, investigations, and results treated with absolute medical confidentiality. Nothing disclosed without your explicit consent — ever.
― CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Sexually Transmitted Infections & Related Conditions
Comprehensive diagnosis and management of all sexually transmitted infections — bacterial, viral, and parasitic — with complete confidentiality and WHO-compliant protocols.
Chancroid
Diagnosed and treated.
Chancroid
Caused by Treponema pallidum, progressing through primary (painless chancre), secondary (rash, systemic symptoms), latent, and tertiary stages if untreated. Diagnosed with VDRL and TPHA serology. Treated with benzathine penicillin or appropriate alternatives. Highly curable at all stages — early treatment prevents serious complications.
Gonorrhoea
Lab-confirmed antibiotic treatment — rising antibiotic resistance managed.
Gonorrhoea
Caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae with increasing antibiotic resistance making accurate microbiological diagnosis critical. Culture and sensitivity testing guides antibiotic selection. Dual antibiotic therapy per current WHO guidelines is standard. Often co-exists with chlamydia — both are tested and treated simultaneously.
Genital Herpes (HSV)
Antiviral management — suppressive therapy reduces recurrence.
Genital Herpes (HSV)
Herpes simplex virus causing recurrent painful genital ulcers. Diagnosed clinically or confirmed by HSV PCR from ulcer swab. Antiviral therapy (acyclovir or valacyclovir) reduces severity, duration, and frequency of recurrences. Suppressive long-term therapy significantly reduces transmission risk and outbreak frequency.
Genital Warts (HPV)
Multiple treatment options — electrocautery, chemical or immunotherapy.
Genital Warts (HPV)
HPV presenting as flesh-coloured papules in the genital, perianal, or oral region. Multiple effective treatment options — electrocautery, podophyllotoxin, trichloroacetic acid, or immunotherapy. Recurrence is common due to latent viral reservoirs. Dr. More discusses HPV vaccination for eligible patients.
Chlamydia & Non-Gonococcal Urethritis
Most common bacterial STI — frequently asymptomatic, NAAT testing.
Chlamydia & Non-Gonococcal Urethritis
The most common bacterial STI globally — frequently asymptomatic in both men and women. NAAT testing is highly sensitive and specific. Effectively treated with a single dose of azithromycin or a 7-day course of doxycycline. Untreated chlamydia leads to serious reproductive complications — testing is recommended for all sexually active patients.
Chancroid, LGV & Rare STIs
Specialist diagnosis of less common but serious STIs.
Chancroid, LGV & Rare STIs
Chancroid (Haemophilus ducreyi), lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), and donovanosis are less common but clinically important STIs requiring specialist diagnostic expertise. These conditions are frequently misdiagnosed or missed. Dr. More's specialist training in venereology enables accurate identification and appropriate targeted treatment.
― OUR PROCESS
How Every STI Consultation Is Conducted?
Private, systematic, and thorough — from the first confidential history to partner notification guidance.
01
Confidential Consultation
Private, Non-Judgmental History Taking
Detailed sexual health history taken in a completely private setting with clinical objectivity and zero judgment. The consultation room is private. Information is never shared without your explicit consent. You are encouraged to disclose fully — the more complete the history, the more accurate and effective the treatment.
02
Clinical Examination
Thorough Clinical Examination
Comprehensive genital and relevant systemic examination to identify clinical signs of infection. Performed with respect, sensitivity, and professional care. All findings are documented clinically and explained clearly. Only clinically necessary examination is performed.
03
Laboratory Testing
Targeted Laboratory Investigations
VDRL, TPHA, HIV ELISA, Chlamydia NAAT, gonorrhoea culture, HSV PCR — selected based on clinical presentation and risk profile. Not a blanket battery of every available test. Each investigation is chosen because it will influence diagnosis and treatment. Results explained fully at follow-up.
04
Treatment
WHO-Compliant Treatment with Full Explanation
Treatment prescribed in accordance with NACO and WHO STI management guidelines — the most evidence-based, effective protocols available. Every medication, its purpose, duration, and potential side effects are explained clearly. No presumptive treatment without laboratory confirmation where feasible.
05
Partner Guidance
Partner Notification & Prevention Counselling
Partner notification guidance provided sensitively and non-coercively. Safe sex counselling, condom use, barrier protection guidance, and STI prevention information are provided at every consultation.
― TREATMENT OUTCOMES
What You Can Expect?
Accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and complete confidentiality — from the first consultation to complete recovery.
Accurate Diagnosis — Not Presumptive Treatment
Laboratory-confirmed diagnosis ensures the correct organism is identified and the most effective treatment is prescribed — preventing antibiotic misuse, treatment failure, and missed co-infections.
Complete Cure for Bacterial STIs
Syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, and chancroid are completely curable with appropriate antibiotic therapy. Early treatment prevents serious long-term complications — infertility, neurological damage, and cardiovascular disease.
Effective Viral STI Management
For viral STIs that cannot be permanently cured — genital herpes, HPV — effective antiviral and immune therapy achieves symptom control, reduces recurrence frequency, and significantly reduces transmission risk.
Prevention & Long-Term Protection
Safe sex counselling, HPV vaccination guidance, and HIV prevention information — empowering patients to protect their long-term sexual health and that of their partners.

― COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions patients ask most frequently about STI testing, treatment, and confidentiality.
Are consultations completely confidential?
Yes, absolutely. All consultations, examinations, test requests, and results are completely confidential. Nothing is disclosed to any third party — family, partner, employer, or insurer — without your explicit consent. Medical records are handled with the same confidentiality as any other medical condition. You can attend without fear of disclosure.
I have symptoms but I am too embarrassed to see a doctor. What should I do?
This is an extremely common feeling and it prevents many people from getting the treatment they need — often allowing infections to progress and spread. Dr. More conducts venereological consultations with complete clinical objectivity and zero judgment. Every patient deserves professional medical care for every aspect of their health. Sexual health is health. Please do not delay.
Do I need to bring my partner for testing?
Partner testing and treatment is strongly recommended for all STIs — to protect your partner’s health, prevent reinfection, and break the transmission chain. However, the decision to involve your partner is entirely yours. Dr. More provides guidance on partner notification — sensitively and without pressure. In some cases, anonymous partner notification can be arranged.
Can I get tested without having any symptoms?
Yes, and this is frequently the right thing to do. Many STIs — chlamydia, early syphilis, HIV — are completely asymptomatic for months or years while remaining transmissible. Testing after a new partner, unprotected exposure, or as part of regular sexual health monitoring is appropriate and recommended. You do not need symptoms to be tested.
Are STIs curable?
Bacterial STIs — syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, chancroid — are completely curable with appropriate antibiotic therapy at any stage. Early treatment prevents serious long-term complications. Viral STIs — genital herpes, HPV, HIV — cannot currently be permanently cured but are highly effectively managed with antiviral therapy, significantly reducing symptoms, recurrences, and transmission risk.
Will my results be shared with anyone without my consent?
No. Results are shared only with you. They are not shared with your employer, family, insurer, or any government authority without your explicit written consent, except in extraordinary legally mandated circumstances that would be explained to you before any disclosure. Dr. More’s practice treats venereological consultations with the same confidentiality as any other medical interaction.
How soon after potential exposure should I get tested?
Testing windows vary by infection. HIV: 4th-generation ELISA is reliable from 4 weeks after exposure. Syphilis: VDRL/TPHA reliable from 3–6 weeks. Gonorrhoea and chlamydia: NAAT testing is reliable from 1–2 weeks post-exposure. Herpes: PCR from an active ulcer is most reliable during an outbreak. Dr. More advises on appropriate timing based on the nature of exposure and tests clinically indicated.
